Pueblo Eden | Life in the Hills
AWAY FROM IT ALL
There is a moment on the road to Pueblo Edén when the landscape seems to change completely. The coast disappears behind you, the road begins to wind through the hills, and Punta del Este suddenly feels much farther away than it actually is.
At the center is Pueblo Edén, a tiny country village surrounded by the rolling landscape of Maldonado. Life here is decidedly slower. There are small restaurants, local producers and vineyards scattered through the surrounding countryside, while the roads beyond the village lead to chacras, farms and increasingly impressive private estates.
WINE COUNTRY
The hills around Pueblo Edén have become known for their vineyards and olive groves, with Viña Edén perhaps the area's best-known winery. Set among the rocky hills along Ruta 12, its striking three-level winery uses gravity in the winemaking process and is powered by solar and wind energy. With vineyard views, wine tastings and a restaurant, it has become a wonderful expression of the landscape and relaxed lifestyle that define Pueblo Edén.
WEEKEND GETAWAY
Here, properties can extend far beyond the traditional five-hectare chacra. Larger estates unfold across hills and valleys, with extraordinary views, native vegetation, streams, animals and a sense of privacy that is increasingly difficult to find closer to the coast. And yet, Pueblo Edén remains connected to Punta del Este. Ruta 12 provides the link back toward Laguna del Sauce and the coast, making it possible to live surrounded by countryside while keeping the beaches, airport and Punta within reach.
